97. Rt. Rev. Samuel Wilberforce3 was born on 7 September 1805.3 He died on 19 July 1873 at the age of 67.3 Samuel (Rt. Rev.), D.D., Successively Bishop of Oxford and Winchester; Rector of Brighstone, I.O.W., 1830-40, Rural Dean of Northern Division of I.O.W. 1836, Archdeacon of Surrey 1839, Canon of Winchester 1840, Rector of Alverstoke, Hants, 1840, chaplain to Prince Albert 1841, Sub-Almoner of Queen Victoria, 1843, Dean of Westminster 1869-73, presided over revision of New Testament 1870-73, hon. Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, 1871; born 7th September, 1805, educated Oriel College, Oxford (B.A. 1826, M.A. 1829, D.D. 1845), married 11th June, 1828, Emily (died 10th March, 1841), eldest daughter and co-heiress of Rev. John Sargent, of Lavington, Sussex, Secretary to the Treasury, and M.P. for Queensborough, by his wife, Mary, daughter and sole heire Abel Smith, elder brother of 1st Baron Carrington (see Burke's Peerage), and died 19th July, 1873 - L G Pine


Emily Sargent3, daughter of John Sargent and Mary Smith, was born in 1807 in Lavington, Sussex ( Now Seaford College). She died on 10 March 1841 at the age of 34.

Lieut. RN Herbert William Wilberforce3 was born on 29 June 1833.3 He died on 28 February 1856 at the age of 22 in Torquay, Devon.3 Herbert William Lieut. R.N., born 1833, died unmarried 1856, from the effects of the Black Sea and Baltic campaigns.

Agnes Wilberforce was born in 1837. She died in 1837 at the age of 0.
